The Witch's Friendly Owl

In a cozy cottage at the edge of Whispering Woods, young witch Lila lives with her best friend Oliver, a wise owl in tiny brass spectacles who watches from his window perch. Lila's teal hat has a bent tip, her dress is covered in star patches, and she loves trying new spells before reading all the words.

One sunny morning she finds the Sparkle-Sprout Spell and rushes into the garden to cast it. Oliver suggests reading it twice, but Lila is already waving her wand. A pop and purple smoke bring tangled vines instead of flowers, and they keep spreading. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW follows Lila as she learns to slow down and listen, and young readers can enjoy it on Kids Tale Book.
