Noah lives in a small house at the edge of a green valley and spends his days wandering the mountains with his little brown backpack. One morning a narrow trail brings him to a hidden meadow, where a pegasus with a glossy white coat, a silver mane and wide feathered wings steps out from behind a waterfall of clouds. Noah names her Starlight, shares apples with her, ties a blue ribbon around her neck, and the two race through the grass and splash in the creek.

Noah dreams of keeping Starlight for himself, but his grandpa Elias gently points out that a pegasus is a wild creature and wild creatures need their freedom. A walk in the forest helps Noah see how happy free animals are, and he starts to understand what real friendship asks of him. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale follows a boy who chooses to protect the meadow rather than hold on to his friend, and it can be read on Kids Tale Book.
