The Velvet Puppet

In a cozy theater with red velvet seats, a small puppet named Pip lives in a wooden box backstage. With her painted peach face, rosy cheeks, red yarn pigtails and a patchwork dress of purple, teal and gold, she watches actors rehearse under warm stage lights and dreams of telling stories of her own. Her strings drift above her like happy thoughts, and she practices tiny plays with a spoon and a button, hoping to one day write a story for everyone.

On the morning of a big performance, Lila the stagehand greets Pip while the theater buzzes with preparation. Director Dimitri announces the evening's show, The Moon's Lost Hat, but an hour before the curtain rises his rolled script disappears and the actors panic. Pip's strings tremble as she realizes she may hold the answer, a story of her own kept only in her head. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows a small puppet finding courage when the grown-ups are stuck, and it can be read on Online Masal.
