The Snowflake Crown

In a kingdom where winter never ends, a little princess named Winter gazes at the falling snow and longs for a crown made of it. Her companion, the Snow Sprite, a tiny glowing being with frosty wings, shapes snowflakes into a fragile circle and sets it on her head. The crown melts before Winter can show it to Owl the Wise, and so a pattern begins: each fresh snowfall brings a new crown, tall or flat, feather-light or heavy enough to land in a snowbank, yet none of them lasts.

Owl the Wise, with his small spectacles and knitted blue scarf, listens patiently and points out that no two snowflakes are alike, and that beauty lies not in one perfect thing but in all the different ones. Winter takes this to heart, learning to enjoy each crown as it appears, laughing at the shapes the wind makes and drawing every design in her own journal. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows her turn from disappointment to delight, and can be read on Online Masal.
