The Porcelain Whale

On a rainy Saturday, Lucy finds a tiny porcelain whale in her pocket, no larger than her thumb. Its glossy surface carries faint blue swirls, and its dark button eyes appear to twinkle. Curious, she brings it to Grandma Rose, who explains that treasures like this one come alive in water. Lucy fills the bathtub and places the whale inside, where it wiggles, blinks, and swims.

Then the whale begins to grow, from the size of her hand to a cat and then to a small car, until it fills the whole tub. Grandma Rose says it needs a proper home: a magical lake beyond the old oak tree. Lucy loads the heavy whale onto a little red wagon and pulls it through mud, tall grass, and puddles. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN explores care and letting go, and it can be read on Online Masal.
