The Polite Monster

In a flower-filled valley, a very large monster named Monty lives with soft moss-green fur, small rounded horns, and a wide smile. Though gentle and unfailingly courteous, always saying please and thank you and writing notes of gratitude for even tiny kindnesses, Monty is lonely. Villagers see his big teeth and flee in fear, so his dearest wish is simply to share tea and freshly baked cookies with a friend.

Hoping to change their minds, Monty opens a tea shop with a red door and a jingling bell, setting out cups, teapots, and plates of cookies, yet days pass with no visitors. Then a stormy afternoon brings a lost little girl named Lily into his shop. This warm story by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN gently explores how kindness and a friendly heart can outweigh appearances, and how judging others too quickly may keep us from lovely friendships. The tale can be read on Online Masal.
