Hannah loves to draw on paper, on sidewalks, and even on her lunch napkin. When she finds a small, warm piece of white chalk under her desk, she pockets it with a gap-toothed smile. After school, while helping Mr. Penn clean the art room, she draws a neat rectangle on the blank wall behind the art shelf. The chalk line sparkles, the wall inside the rectangle vanishes, and Hannah steps into an enormous greenhouse full of twisty plants and humming flowers. There she meets Pip, a knee-high creature with a moss-green fuzzy body, big amber eyes, and a little sprout growing from his head, who begs her to make more doorways so he can explore the world outside.
Hannah happily draws doorway after doorway, opening onto a sunny meadow, a rocky mountain path, and a sparkling waterfall. But soon the school begins to change: the hallway smells of flowers and wet rocks, water seeps under the principal's office door, and a waterfall gushes down the main corridor. When Hannah tries to erase the doorways, the chalk squeaks and the greenhouse vines refuse to disappear. This illustrated fairy tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows Hannah and Pip through a day of magical discovery and messy consequences, and it can be read on Online Masal.
