The Teacher from Planet Puddle

Room 9 expects an ordinary substitute on Monday morning, but the man who walks through the door is anything but. He has pale blue-green skin, wispy silver hair that floats around his head and enormous squeaky green rubber boots, and he introduces himself as Professor Plip from Planet Puddle, a world where lessons drift in the air and equations sing.
