The Pencil Dragon

Doodle is a shy dragon with sky-blue scales and a tail that ends in a pointed pencil tip. High above the green hills, he swooshes his tail each morning to draw round suns, curly clouds and sparkling rivers across the sky. Even so, he doubts that his drawing is of any real use.

One breezy morning he flies lower than usual and leaves glowing swirls above a small village with red roofs and yellow gardens. There the children have no proper playground, and Pip, a quick boy in red overalls, dreams of swings and slides. When the villagers notice the dragon's drawings, they ask for his help, and Grandpa Tom and the children set to work.
