Ten-year-old Maya walks past Willow Creek's old clocktower every day on her way to school, drawn to its ticking and chiming. Her friend Theo, a cautious eleven-year-old, arrives with a flashlight and a key from Grandpa Aldo, a retired clockmaker who allows the children to explore and hints that the tower keeps secrets even he has not seen. Opening the heavy door, they find a narrow, winding staircase that climbs into darkness.
At the top, a small wooden door opens into a round, dusty room where covered shapes hide a brass telescope and star maps, the remains of a forgotten observatory. Maya sketches their finds while Theo searches carefully, and Grandpa Aldo recalls the town stargazers who once met there. The children decide to present the discovery at the town meeting. This gentle mystery by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN can be read on Online Masal.
