Deep beneath the waves lives Bubbles, a huge but gentle sea monster with soft teal-blue skin and round amber eyes. He wants nothing more than a friend, but whenever he approaches the little seaside village, the sailors cry out in alarm and row away, leaving him alone in the deep water.
When a small fishing boat is caught among sharp rocks, Bubbles secretly pushes it free and slips away unseen. Only Mira, an eight-year-old girl watching through her brass spyglass, notices what happened. Sure that the creature is kind, she seeks out Granny Pearl and her old legends, then sets out to persuade the villagers to look past his size. This picture-book tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN explores judging by appearance and the courage to speak up for someone who cannot speak for himself. It can be read on Online Masal.
