When Maya finds a dusty brass box in the attic, she does not yet know it is a story machine. A glass eye blinks blue, feather-shaped gears turn, and a small red button releases Clockwork Quill, a tiny clockwork creature who explains that words are mixed up and stories are tangled. A puff of purple smoke then brings Frog Prince Pudding, a plump frog in a gold crown and pink bow tie who claims to be both royalty and dessert.

Maya calls her brother Theo, and the two children discover the machine has three dials for characters, settings, and actions. Theo wants to spin them fast and be silly, which only deepens the muddle, while Maya uses her notebook to show him that reading the words before choosing them makes a better story. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale about thinking before acting and choosing words with care can be read on Online Masal.
