The Little Stage Builder

Oliver, who is called the little stage builder, takes pleasure in the scent of new wood and the rhythm of his hammer. Each summer he constructs a stage for the traveling performers at his town's festival. This year he works alongside his best friend Mira and his grandfather Frank, a carpenter who has retired, and together they confront a problem: the old stage is not safe and has to be rebuilt completely before the festival opens.

When a performer named Pip arrives and needs a stage by Saturday, Oliver gives her his word that he will build one. While they work, they find that the old stage is cracked and unsteady, so Oliver decides it must be redesigned with stronger materials and safer plans. Guided by Grandpa Frank and using Mira's sketches, they gather solid oak boards and construct a stage that is both safe and attractive.
