In the heart of the woods lives Nina, a curious squirrel with warm russet-orange fur and a red knitted scarf. One morning, while gathering acorns, she finds a glass acorn glowing like a tiny lantern. Within it she sees a miniature forest with tiny trees, rivers and animals, and meets Pip, a three-centimeter-tall guardian with shimmering wings and an acorn-cap hat. Pip explains that the sunlight is fading and their little world will vanish unless it is moved to a brighter place. Though small herself, Nina agrees to help.

Nina places the acorn in her satchel and sets out to find the brightest sunlight. Old Oak advises her to cross the stream and climb the hill beyond. The stepping stones are too far apart, so she floats the acorn across on a leaf; the hill is steep and rocky, and she slips and drops the acorn. Yet the tiny forest survives, and with renewed determination she carries it to the top of the hill. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale about responsibility and courage can be read on Online Masal.
