On a bright winter morning, a young explorer named Maya sets out in her yellow hat, red scarf and teal coat, following tiny animal prints into the frozen hills. The trail brings her to a wide blue glacier taller than a house, where she finds that the ice is not silent after all. The Old Glacier opens its soft, moonlit eyes and shares a secret kept for many winters: beneath the clear frozen surface blooms a garden of tiny flowers, no bigger than a thumbnail, glowing in pink, violet, gold and sky blue.
With her magnifying glass and big pockets, Maya learns how these small, strong flowers survive the cold, sheltering one another while the ice protects them. She promises to be their guardian, packing a crack with soft snow and moving a sharp stone from the garden's edge. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows a curious child who discovers that life can grow in surprising places, and that care and teamwork keep it growing. The story can be read on Online Masal.
