In the village of Sugarstone, the hours are marked by scents rather than numbers. A towering gingerbread clock in the town square releases a new aroma each hour, from cinnamon to peppermint to warm chocolate, and residents rely on these smells to know the time. Nine-year-old Pippa, who lives beside the square at her family's bakery, enjoys identifying each fragrance before it appears. With her best friend Tobi, an eleven-year-old baker in a teal coat carrying tiny screwdrivers, she hopes to create something as remarkable as the clock.

Just three days before the winter festival, the clock halts at two o'clock and emits no scent at all, leaving the village anxious. Pippa and Tobi decide to repair it and open a small door at its base, where they find hardened sugar blocking the candy gears. There they meet Mister Crumb, a palm-sized gingerbread guardian who sets them a test before they can reach the main gear. This tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN can be read on Online Masal.
