Lily the fairy lives in a tiny house made from a hollow acorn at the edge of the woods, and her best friend is a small grey kitten with soft paws and a curious nose. Every morning they play together among the ferns and daisies. But one sunny day, while Lily is busy watering her garden in her mint-green petal dress and acorn-cap hat, the kitten disappears. The only clue is a trail of tiny pawprints that leads straight into the magical garden, where flowers grow as tall as trees and bees are as big as birds — a place Lily has never dared to enter alone.
Gathering her courage, Lily asks her woodland friends for help. Pip the squirrel, quick and sharp-eyed with his blue neckerchief and woven satchel, is the first to spot the pawprints. Bramble the hedgehog, round and steady in his spectacles and red scarf, reminds them that many hands make light work, while Sage the rabbit in his explorer's vest leads the way through towering stems and slippery bluebells. Together the four friends crawl through sunflower tunnels, search beneath giant daisies, and learn to steady one another when the path gets difficult. This gentle story by Jane MEADOW follows a small group of friends working as a team to bring a lost kitten home, and it shows young readers that asking for help is a sign of courage, not weakness. The tale can be read on Kids Tale Book.
