The Clockwork Elephant

High on a quiet hill above the green jungle, a clockwork elephant with a silver-grey body, brass gears at his knees and bright blue glass eyes lives in a small workshop. Each morning he watches the birds and monkeys from his window and dreams of rolling down the hill to explore the wild jungle below. One sunny day he finally does, and the jungle greets him with wonder rather than fear.

On a winding animal pathway he meets Mira, a warm brown monkey, Olive the parrot, and Grandpa Tortoise, who explains that this trail is the animals' only road to the river. When a huge tree falls across the path and none of the animals can move it, the clockwork elephant realizes that his long segmented metal trunk and clicking brass gears might be exactly what the jungle needs. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows his quiet decision to step forward, and the moment the others see him differently. It can be read on Online Masal.
