In the green heart of the jungle, an old stone temple rests beneath vines and trees, and each year after the rains thousands of butterflies settle on its walls like a living rainbow. Maya, a curious girl with two puffs of curly hair, has watched this secret place since she was small. One day she brings her best friend Tom, a tall boy with a backwards blue cap and round glasses, to see the butterflies resting on the ancient stones.

Their quiet visit is interrupted when two grown-ups arrive: Dr. Lena, a researcher with a camera, and Professor Arjuna, an old historian with a walking stick, who both wish to study the temple. Maya speaks up bravely and shows the visitors how to move slowly and quietly so the butterflies stay calm. Tom suggests building a soft path of leaves with signs asking people to be still, and the children and researchers work together all afternoon to make it. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale about patience, respect for nature and teamwork can be read on Online Masal.
