Pearl is a unicorn who lives in a sunny meadow at the edge of the forest. Her coat is soft as a cloud, her pastel-pink mane flows in gentle waves, and she keeps her silver hooves polished until they shine like mirrors. Pearl loves neatness above all things: she brushes her mane for hours, keeps her pale blue tail ribbon perfectly tied, and stays far away from muddy paths and messy games. The other animals like her, but they know she will not join them when they play in the dirt.
One day heavy rain turns the meadow to mud and floods the streams. From her dry cave Pearl watches the rising water and worries about her friends. Then she hears Finn the rabbit calling for help, trapped on a small island of grass and unable to swim. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN is written for young children and for anyone who reads aloud to them, and it can be read on Online Masal. Through Pearl's choice it shows that helping others matters more than staying clean, and that a muddy coat can be washed while a friend in danger cannot wait.
