In the village of Hatwick, the yearly Festival of Floating Hats is the day everyone waits for, when villagers decorate enormous hats with ribbons, flowers and bright paint and send them dancing into the sky. Millie, a curious girl with curly black hair in two bouncy puffs, loves the festival more than any other day. Her grandpa Ollie, the village hat-maker, wears a floppy patchwork hat covered in tiny bells, and while they build her hat together he tells her that the best celebrations come from imagination.
On the morning of the parade a strange gust of wind sweeps through the square and lifts the giant hats off their stands, sending them spinning and drifting away. While Mayor Bramble fears the day is ruined, Millie runs after the floating shapes. Beyond the fields and the brook she finds tiny wind sprites who have borrowed the hats for a party of their own. The story follows Millie's clever solution and the unusual festival that results, a warm tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN that can be read on Online Masal.
