A star-and-moon painted wagon arrives in a village of constant drums and fiddles, yet it makes no sound at all. From it steps Mimo, a girl in a patched rainbow vest whose yellow shoes carry bells that have been carefully removed, followed by Grandmother Luna, the ringmistress in a midnight-blue coat stitched with tiny stars. When Luna lifts one silver-gloved hand, acrobats leap and spin in silence, and a spotted dog named Pip in a red neckerchief carries ropes. The puzzled villagers keep asking where the music has gone.

Mimo points to her dark eyes and then to her heart, showing that the performers tell stories through wiggles and grins, but the villagers only scratch their heads. This picture-book tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN is written for young readers and for those who read aloud to them, inviting children to notice gestures and expressions. The story can be read on Online Masal.
