Seven-year-old Daniel steps outside after the rain in his yellow raincoat and blue rubber boots and places a paper boat on a puddle. Then the world shifts around him, the puddle widens into an enormous ocean, and he boards his little craft, which has turned into a real vessel, to begin a voyage.
On his way he meets Shelly, a lighthouse keeper who lives in a seashell and cautions him about a whirlpool ahead. He sails past floating teacups carrying ant families and pebble islands where tiny frogs live, until he faces the dangerous whirlpool with glowing eyes. Remembering Grandpa Tom's words about staying calm and clever, Daniel repairs his boat with a twig, a leaf, grass and bark. This tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, which can be read on Online Masal, shows young readers how everyday items and quick thinking can solve big problems.
