The Owl and the Hedgehog

In the deep, dark forest, under a high moon and twinkling stars, a small owl named Oliver wakes and puts on his tiny blue scarf. His huge round amber eyes see everything clearly, and with a satchel of rolled-up maps he flies down to the forest floor for a new adventure. Not far away, a little hedgehog named Hazel wakes too, puts on her green vest with two pockets, and steps out of her burrow under a big oak tree, brave and cheerful and eager to explore.

When the two meet, they quickly become friends and set out together. Oliver guides them with his night vision, while Hazel sniffs out danger and checks every path before they mark it on the map. Night by night their map grows as they name safe paths under ferns, across a bubbling stream, around a prickly bush, under a fallen log and through tall mushrooms. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale of friendship, teamwork and careful exploration can be read on Kids Tale Book.
