On a rocky island surrounded by the wide blue sea, a young seal named Sammy wakes early each morning to watch the sunrise. His sleek silver-grey body, speckled fur and long white whiskers make him easy to recognise along the shore. One sunny day, a cheerful little puffin called Percy lands nearby, and the two become friends straight away, splashing in the shallows, chasing waves and hunting for shiny shells and pretty pebbles. As the days pass, they trade stories and secrets until the island feels like home to both of them.
Then Sammy spots dark clouds building on the horizon and senses the wind shift. A big storm is on its way, and Percy has no proper nest to shelter in. Knowing every rock of the shore, Sammy guides his worried friend past boulders and overhanging ledges while the waves rise and the wind grows stronger. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW follows the pair as they search for a safe place before the weather turns, and it can be read on Kids Tale Book.
