High on a hill behind a gate of twisting vines, the Talking Animal School welcomes children and animals who learn together in rooms humming with magic. Birds spell words on the chalkboard, young foxes solve math puzzles with their paws, and every way of learning is welcomed. Among the students is a small cream-white rabbit with a sky-blue scarf who learns by doing, hopping everywhere fast and faster because she never wants to sit still.

One morning the wise old owl in her tiny round glasses and purple knitted vest gives four students a big project: build a wonderful surprise for the whole school. The group includes a clever fox with a green satchel who insists on planning first, a brown-skinned child with curly puff hair and a yellow shirt who draws her ideas, the restless rabbit who wants to start hopping right away, and the owl herself, who mostly listens. Because nobody agrees, they first try to work alone, and the project collapses into a messy pile of sticks and string. Written by Jane MEADOW, this gentle tale about teamwork and different ways of learning can be read on Kids Tale Book.
