Maya lives in a small house at the edge of a quiet town, and each night she looks at the stars from her window and wishes for a friend. Her cozy room is filled with constellation drawings she has copied from library books, and although she often feels lonely, the stars always bring a smile to her face. One clear night a shooting star lands in her backyard, and there she meets a fox made of swirling stardust, with silver-blue fur, golden eyes and a ribbon of tiny stars around its neck.
The star fox knows her name and tells her it has watched the sky with her every night, and from then on the two meet each evening to play hide-and-seek among the trees and tell stories under the moon. When the fox notices that the Little Bear constellation is missing, Maya agrees to help find it, and their search carries them past the treetops and clouds. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW follows a small girl who learns that courage grows out of friendship. Young readers can read it on Kids Tale Book.
