Oliver the otter lives in a snug burrow beside the river, and each morning a cheerful whistle greets him, making the water feel welcoming. Curious about who makes the sound, he hopes to find the whistler and offer thanks. Then one day the whistle fails to arrive, and Oliver notices a hollow feeling, as though a button has come loose.

He decides to uncover the reason for the quiet and is joined by Nell, a water shrew who carries a magnifying glass and thinks like a detective. Together they scan the riverbank, trace small footprints into the reeds, and find a hollow log holding a little reed flute. Nell shows Oliver that careful listeners make good detectives, and their patience brings them to Mr. Pindle, an elderly water vole with a cracked flute. With sap from Oliver's satchel and Nell's steady paws, they set about mending it. This gentle tale by Çınar BİBER can be read on Masalcı Baba.
