In the far northern village of Northhaven, winter brings fresh snow and a yearly festival celebrating the aurora. Copper-haired Freya, small and wiry in her red wool coat and mustard-yellow scarf, loves this festival more than anyone. With her best friend Olaf and Pip the fox, she counts the days until the dancing lights appear, while Gran Mabel tells stories of the aurora as ribbons of joy. This year, Freya is determined to make it the best festival ever.

But thick clouds roll in and hide the sky, and the villagers murmur that without the aurora there can be no festival. Freya refuses to give up and gathers everyone in the village hall to make their own light from paper, ribbons and glue. Lanterns are folded, winter games fill the square, and Gran Mabel hosts a storytelling circle with hot cocoa. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale about friendship and teamwork can be read on Online Masal.
