Ella visits Grandma Rose's crooked cottage every sunny Saturday, and on one rainy afternoon her grandmother sends her up to the attic. There, beneath a white sheet, stands a tall mirror with a golden frame. Its glass holds no reflection of Ella at all; instead it glows rosy pink, and out flies Pip, a palm-sized mirror sprite with shimmering blue skin and silver hair. Pip reveals the mirror's secret: it never shows faces, only what lives in the heart, with pink for kindness, blue for courage and gold for honesty.
Word of the mirror reaches Magician Marvo, a vain man in a purple velvet coat who is sure it will name him the most beautiful person in the kingdom. He steals it in the night and carries it to his shiny tower, yet the glass stays grey and dim when he turns it on himself. Grey follows grey as he marches through the village holding the mirror up to the baker, the blacksmith and the mayor. Ella follows quietly with Pip hidden in her jumper pocket, then knocks on his door to offer a lesson. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN can be read on Online Masal.
