On a breezy nesting island, a young albatross named Sky stretches his large white-and-grey wings and observes the ocean winds curling over the waves. Close by lives Pip, a small petrel with a smoky grey-brown body, a white belly and round, curious dark eyes. The two become quick friends, sharing fish, stories and golden sunsets, and they mark their friendship with a woven seaweed band and a tiny seashell. When older birds mention a distant nesting island where young seabirds gather, Sky senses the winds calling and asks Pip to fly there together.

The journey is long, and Pip's small wings soon ache. Heat, tricky gusts and doubt make Pip want to turn back, but Sky stays close, shields Pip from the strongest wind and counts each wingbeat aloud. This gentle story, written by Aysel Banu YAVUZAL, explores courage, perseverance and the value of encouragement. It shows that big goals are reached one small effort at a time, and that a friend beside us makes long journeys feel shorter. The tale can be read on Masal İzle.
