Drift Island rests in a warm blue sea, a calm place where families grow fruit and fish in clear water. Lily, a curious ten-year-old with a brass compass and a mustard-yellow raincoat, enjoys exploring every corner of her home. Yet the island keeps an unusual secret: each time the islanders argue, the whole island drifts to a different spot in the ocean. One morning, the fishing boats come back to discover the harbor has vanished, because the island has shifted miles away. Lily realizes the movement happens only when people quarrel and decides to find out why.

With Grandpa Sol, the oldest islander, and her parrot Pip, she tests her idea. When people laugh and share stories, the island holds still; when they argue, it drifts. A heated dispute about building a new stone harbor makes the island move faster, toward the dangerous Dark Rocks. Lily must persuade everyone to stop fighting and listen to one another. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale about communication, empathy and teamwork can be read on Online Masal.
