The Hollow Log Hotel

Rosie and Rusty Raccoon make their home in a snug den beneath an old oak tree. When a giant hollow log appears in the meadow one morning, the two of them set to work: Rusty sketches a plan in his work apron with pencil in hand, while Rosie fills a satchel with tiny keys. They sweep the log, shape little beds from moss and leaves, cut round windows, and hang a bark sign announcing the Hollow Log Hotel.

Guests arrive quickly: Mr. Peck, a woodpecker in round spectacles who drums at dawn; Dozey, a dormouse in a lilac nightcap who longs for quiet; and an energetic squirrel family needing three rooms, storage for acorns, and space to play tag. Soon the visitors begin to squabble, and Rosie and Rusty discover that welcoming others takes more than a welcoming sign. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows the two raccoons as they learn about listening and fair rules, and it can be read on Online Masal.
