In Paperbridge City, bridges are folded from paper and rebuilt every spring in a joyful citywide celebration. Ada, an eleven-year-old girl who keeps a pencil behind her ear, has learned the old folding craft from her grandfather, Grandpa Fold, the city's oldest bridge builder. She practices daily and dreams of folding bridges herself, until her sparrow Pip arrives with a red thread on his leg and dark clouds gather over the square.
When heavy rain tears the new paper bridges and cuts people off from work and school, Mayor Bridget calls an emergency meeting. Ada remembers how a fallen leaf stays dry on top and wonders whether paper could shed water the same way. In Grandpa Fold's workshop she tests beeswax, plant oils and tree sap until she finds a water-resistant mix and a folding technique whose layers overlap like fish scales. A small model convinces the mayor, and the whole city joins in folding waterproof bridges using Ada's method. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this tale can be read on Online Masal.
