In Windowbrook, every house has a tiny window of its own size and shape, and looking through these little panes shows the villagers their happiest memories. Max, an eight-year-old with messy chestnut hair and a mustard yellow jumper, lives in the yellow house at the end of the lane, where his window is round like a coin. One morning the view changes: instead of the day he received his leather satchel, he sees a rocky shore, a blue boat and a tall man waving from a wooden pier.
With a map and a kiss from his grandmother Ella, Max sets out to learn who the man is. His friend Lily, a ten-year-old with red braids and a gap-toothed smile, comes along, and they follow the river path north to a small fishing village by the sea. There they meet Uncle Tobias, a bearded fisherman who mends nets on the pier. This gentle adventure by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN explores curiosity, family history and friendship, and can be read on Online Masal.
