Alice enters Memory Forest for the first time, her red rubber boots crunching on the leafy path, and soon learns that the trees around her murmur the names of those who once rested beneath them. Curious and attentive, she writes each name in her notebook, and her willingness to listen draws the notice of ElmSpeak, the forest's gentle guardian, who keeps its records and carries a lantern made from an acorn cap.
ElmSpeak leads her to the Great Tree, an enormous old being with a weathered face in its bark and branches that are nearly bare. The tree recalls everyone else's name but has forgotten its own, and without it, it is fading. Alice and ElmSpeak set out for a hidden archive beneath a fallen log, where bark scrolls hold old stories and forgotten songs, searching faded words for any mention of the Great Tree. This illustrated fairy tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN moves at a gentle pace and can be read on Online Masal.
