In a snowy village where the air sparkles like sugar, nine-year-old Ingrid carries her ice chisel everywhere she goes. The village is famous for its ice sculptures, and Ingrid loves carving little rabbits, bears and birds for everyone to see. At night, when the northern lights dance across the sky, something magical happens: her ice fox wags its crystalline tail, her ice swan flaps its icicle feathers, and the sculptures come alive for a few shimmering moments.
One evening Ingrid notices that her kind neighbour Old Man Magnus has stopped coming to the village celebrations. His cottage stays dark and cold, and he tells her that his happiest days are long gone. Remembering his story of the great ice castle his father once built in the square, Ingrid decides to carve that castle again, with tiny windows, a drawbridge and little dancing figures around it. This heartwarming tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN can be read on Online Masal.
