In a sunlit meadow filled with dancing daisies, a small cricket named Jasper makes his home among the flowers. Dressed in a little red scarf and an acorn-cap hat, with glossy emerald-green body and shimmering golden wings, he greets each morning by rubbing his wings to create music while birds chirp along and grasshoppers tap their feet. One day he notices something remarkable: near a patch of sleepy bluebells, his playing gently coaxes the petals open, as though the flowers are waking to listen.

His friend Lottie the ladybug, wearing a yellow daisy-petal shawl, tells him this music is a gift meant for the whole meadow, and Bernard the bumblebee carries the news from bloom to bloom. When a cold wind and silvery frost leave the flowers closed and shivering, Jasper turns to Grandpa Oak for guidance and plans a nighttime concert with help from his friends.
