In the middle of the desert, a palace rises from a tall cliff of red sandstone rather than from separate stone blocks. Princess Noor, a curious girl with a bright smile, lives there with her people and enjoys hearing the wind sing through its carved halls. Old Rahim, who looks after the palace, likes to remind her that it keeps many secrets. One hot afternoon, Noor and her friend Mira discover one of them: faint carvings hidden behind a heavy curtain in a forgotten hallway.
The carvings depict people digging channels and gathering water in large pots, and Old Rahim explains that they record how the ancestors stored rainwater in hidden cisterns, a knowledge later lost. Noor decides this must not be forgotten again. With Mira finding helpers and Old Rahim offering guidance, a small group of children and adults cleans the walls using soft cloths and gentle brushes, and the palace's story gradually returns to view. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale for young readers can be read on Online Masal.
