Felix the fox lives beside a wide, winding river that sparkles in the morning sun. With his moss-green satchel and a tail that flicks with curiosity, he trots along the bank each day looking for surprises. One bright morning he finds a waterproof envelope caught between two smooth stones: inside is a drawing of a little beaver named Pip, who lives upstream and admits he is lonely. Felix has never heard of a letter delivered by the river, so he takes it to Grandpa Ollie, the old otter who knows the river's secrets, and learns that a reply left in the water will drift upstream to his new friend.

So begins a correspondence carried by the current. Felix draws himself in his red scarf and green satchel, seals the note in a waterproof envelope and tosses it gently into the river. When days pass with no answer, his neighbour Maple the squirrel, in her yellow apron and round spectacles, reminds him that the river is slow but sure. At last Pip's reply arrives, and the two begin exchanging pictures of their homes, their days and the small things they love. Their friendship grows with every envelope that floats along the water, until Pip writes that he wishes they could meet but his legs are too short for such a long journey. This gentle tale by Çınar BİBER can be read on Masalcı Baba.
