The Dragon's First Birthday

Ember, a baby dragon with shimmering coral-orange scales and bright amber eyes, wakes up in a snug cave on a sunny hill on the morning of his very first birthday. Wearing a tiny blue party hat, he dances with excitement as Mama Cinder, tall and graceful with deep red scales, prepares the celebration. Soon the family gathers: broad Uncle Flint brings a golden crown and a magical sword, while small, wise Granny Willow arrives in her purple shawl with a woven basket full of toys.

The presents soon spark a disagreement, as Uncle Flint and Granny Willow each argue for their own gift. Slipping away to a quiet corner, Ember finds a simple paper kite painted with a smiling sun, made just for him. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN follows the family as they learn to cooperate, and it can be read on Online Masal. Its warm, simple telling suits preschool and early primary children and bedtime read-alouds.
