Beside a garden pond, tucked into soft green moss, an old chipped teacup waits to become something wonderful. Captain Pip, a three-centimeter-tall sailor with copper hair and a navy coat, names it a perfect teacup harbor, and with Mate Marigold, Scout Sage and Granny Gull he begins turning it into a home. Docks are hammered along the rim, lanterns hang from the handle, and leaf-and-twig boats soon bob in the water while the crew settles into a cozy life of tea in acorn cups and weather reports from the lookout post.
One morning Scout Sage brings alarming news: the pond is rising and water creeps up the docks. The sailors move their supplies higher and watch the water climb past their knees. Captain Pip sees they cannot stop the water, but they can change the harbor, so the crew gathers twigs and pebbles, builds a wall with a sliding gate, measures higher docks and a safe path of pebble stairs, and lights the way with lanterns. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN shows how a community faces a problem that cannot be wished away, and it can be read on Online Masal.
