In a village square, a stone fountain sings a soft, shimmering melody whenever someone makes a wish. Mira, a small girl with curly black hair in two puffs, often sits on its edge in her yellow polka-dot dress, making secret wishes. Her best friends Toby, who wears round glasses and carries an orange backpack, and Lily, who wears a silver star pin and plays a wooden flute, join her each morning to hear the fountain's song.
One morning the fountain falls silent. Grandpa Sol explains that it once sang only when wishes were shared with hope, and lately everyone has been too busy. Mira decides the children must remind the village. With Toby's lanterns, Lily's flute songs and Mira's written wish notes, they plan a celebration in the square, teaching younger children the tune and inviting neighbors to bring their dearest hopes.
