Theo finds a tall, dusty wardrobe in his grandmother's attic, and behind a small silver button lies a hidden staircase no taller than his thumb. There he meets Pip, a woman with spiky copper-orange hair and a yellow scarf, and Gran, an elderly woman wearing a silver button brooch who explains that the button opens all their doors. Gran sets a simple rule: respect keeps their home safe, and Theo promises to be careful as he moves through cozy rooms with bottle-cap tables, matchstick chairs and lamps that glow like fireflies.
When Theo notices a broken staircase and a tiny boy named Nib with a bandaged knee, he wants to fix it right away. Instead he recalls Gran's words and asks permission first. Using tape, matches and string from his satchel, plus Pip's hammer and nails, the three work step by step, with Theo holding the pieces steady, Pip nailing them and Nib tying a railing. A spare button becomes the new bottom step. This gentle tale by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN can be read on Online Masal.
