Pip, a small penguin with a black back, white belly and a soft blue scarf, lives on a bright icy plain. One morning he finds a golden egg glowing warmly in the snow. Amazed, he cradles it and imagines what might be inside, but soon the glow flickers and the shell grows hot. Pip realizes the egg is alive and needs more than he can provide.

Instead of keeping his treasure, Pip sets out across the frozen plain to find the egg's parent. He meets Mira the snowy owl, who warns that the egg cannot be away from its parent for long. Pip asks gulls, a sleepy seal and a family of snow hares, but none can help. As the sun sets and the egg's light dims, Pip's curiosity becomes real care. At last, Mrs Frostfeather, a worried arctic fox in a red shawl, arrives, and Pip returns the egg. This gentle tale by Ebru Mina TOMURCUK explores responsibility and kindness.
