In a hidden harbor where the sea seems to whisper to the sky, a little penguin named Pip steps onto a pebbly shore in his red knitted scarf, carrying a small blue satchel. Floating ice glows like lanterns around him, and Pip is curious about everything he sees. Soon a plump puffin named Pearl lands beside him, wearing a sky-blue bobble hat and a green backpack with a star patch, and the two become friends.
Sitting on a smooth ice rock, Pip and Pearl trade stories of their distant homes: Pip's snowy hills beneath a wide blue sky and Pearl's windy cliffs with crashing waves and bobbing fishing boats. Then a shimmering ice path appears on the water, leading toward a floating garden of ice flowers and frozen fountains. The tale follows their gentle adventure and the small moments of courage it asks of them. This warm read-aloud story by Jane MEADOW can be read on Kids Tale Book.
