The Girl and the Rescue Goat

In this gentle farm story by Jane MEADOW, Hannah visits her Grandpa Joe's rescue farm and finds a new arrival in the barn. Pip is a small cream-white goat with grey patches, one floppy ear and a brass bell on her red collar, and she has come from a rocky place where she was not fed or cared for properly. Frightened, thin and lonely, Pip skitters away and hides behind a hay bale when Hannah steps closer.

Grandpa Joe explains that kindness starts with fresh water, good hay and a warm, dry shelter, but Pip stays sad even with proper care. Watching the little goat stare at the big rocks near the fence, Hannah realizes Pip needs more than food, and she sets about building something for the goat to climb and play on. The tale can be read on Kids Tale Book.
