Luna, a ginger-orange cat, adores her garden and loves nothing more than racing through it at full speed, her silver bell jingling past the roses. One sunny afternoon, a slow crunching sound near the gate brings her face to face with Arthur, a calm tortoise with a domed brown shell and gentle dark eyes who has come to visit. Luna is delighted and instantly wants to race him to the far end, but Arthur hardly moves, pausing to sniff a tiny purple flower and to examine things closely.
At first Luna feels bored and impatient, yet as she sits and watches Arthur take one steady step after another, she starts to notice what she has always dashed past: moss like a tiny forest, hidden white flowers, a shiny green beetle, a dew-covered web, a snail's silvery trail and a little stream whose sound she never heard before. This gentle tale by Jane MEADOW explores friendship between two very different creatures and the discovery that the world holds more than one rhythm. Young readers can follow Luna and Arthur's afternoon on Kids Tale Book.
