The Paper Throne

In the sunny kingdom of Verdalia, Prince Rowan is happiest when he is folding paper cranes and writing letters to his friends. When Queen Elara announces that the kingdom wants to present him with a grand throne of jewels and gold, Rowan hesitates, thinking of what such a fortune could do instead. He asks for a throne made from recycled paper, one that tells a story and teaches people to reuse and care for their world.

With Master Fenn, a round craftsman with bushy white hair and ink-stained apron, Rowan gathers old newspapers and letters from every corner of the castle. Together they flatten sheets, roll tight tubes and fold strong triangles, tucking paper cranes into the throne's arms. News of the prince who chose paper over jewels spreads, and Queen Elara invites everyone to a special ceremony.
