Eight-year-old Oliver keeps a clear glass marble with a silver swirl inside. On a sunny afternoon he notices that the tiny grey craters within it seem to shift, and when he holds his magnifying glass over the marble, he finds a miniature moon floating inside the glass, with a pale silver-white surface, soft craters and a faint blue halo. That night he holds the marble up to the real moon and sees a thin crescent shadow appear on one side, and he resolves to find out why.
With his spiral notebook, pencil and a small lamp from his mother, Oliver begins observing the marble moon every evening, sketching each shape it takes, dating every page and noting how the craters seem to move as the shadows change. His mother encourages him, and his notebook slowly fills with careful drawings. Written by Yavuz DEMİRKIRAN, this gentle tale can be read on Online Masal and follows Oliver as everyday curiosity becomes patient observation that he later shares with his classmates.
